This second volume of George Balanchine works danced by New York City
Ballet includes three complete ballets: Concerto Barocco, starring
Diana Adams, Tanaquil Le Clercq, and Jacques d’Amboise; Pas de Dix,
which features principal dancers Maria Tallchief and André Eglevsky; and
Agon, a work Balanchine and Igor Stravinsky created for NYCB in 1957. This
historic performance – introduced by Balanchine himself – includes original
cast members Diana Adams, Arthur Mitchell, Todd Bolender, and Roy Tobias.
Rounding out the disc is a performance of the Grand pas de deux from The
Nutcracker danced by Adams and Nicholas Magallanes.
